START TIME 7:08 pm EST, Camden Yards

Despite residing firmly in last place, the bottom-dwelling Orioles host the Halos tonight at Camden as heavy (-175) favorites. Why? The Angels will once again send 24-year-old Jack Kochanowicz to the hill, amidst a four-game skid where he's allowed 16 earned runs with 4 homers plus 11 free passes in just 17.2 IP. Oof.

Deploying a fastball-centric, sinker-heavy approach, Kochanowicz's extreme combination of elevated contact (91.7% Zone-Contact) and power metrics (49.8% Hard Hit, 9.8% Barrel) continue to haunt him. These struggles become magnified against left-handed hitters... not the split you want vulnerable versus the southpaw-heavy blackbirds — 0.316 BA, 0.928 OPS, 0.399 wOBA, 10 HR. Uh oh.

LAA's righty will try to play spoiler to BAL, being led by two-hole hitter Adley Rutschman. The former first overall draft pick finally started finding his stroke, and I'm expecting a full return to peak powers given his production vs RHP the last couple of week — 30 PA; .346 BA, 1.015 OPS, 36.4% Flyball, 54.5% Pull, 63.6% Hard Hit, 18.2% Barrel, .467 xwOBA. Whoa. Could be the last time we see Kochanowicz in MLB for a while.
