Fans Are Saying The Same Thing About Kevin Durant After Suns’ New Head Coach Hire originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

The Phoenix Suns’ decision to hire Cleveland Cavaliers assistant Jordan Ott as their new head coach, announced by Shams Charania on Wednesday, has sparked a wave of reactions among NBA fans—many of whom are zeroing in on Kevin Durant’s future with the team.

Ott, known for his innovative offensive and defensive strategies since his NBA coaching debut in 2012, steps into a challenging role following the Suns’ disappointing 36-46 season.

Ott being hired makes Johnnie Bryant a front runner to land with the New York Knicks, who just recently fired Tom Thibodeau after losing in the Eastern Conference Finals.

While the hire signals a fresh start, fans on X are buzzing with a singular narrative: Durant’s days in Phoenix might be numbered.

Amid reports of Durant’s expected trade this offseason, social media erupted with speculation.

”KD out confirmed," wrote one fan.

"Kd is so gone," wrote another.

"Kevin Durant demanding trade in 3,2,1..." said one user.

"Yeah KD outta there lmao," said another user.

"No one cares KD leaving, chimed in a fan.

"Huge news for the unemployed (Kevin Durant)," chimed in another fan.

Others pointed to the Suns’ commitment to building around Devin Booker, who endorsed Ott and is set for a massive extension.

With the team’s fourth coach in four years, fans are skeptical about stability, often citing Durant’s rocky tenure and reported clashes with former coach Mike Budenholzer.

Durant, coming off a season in which he averaged 26.6 points per game on 52.7% shooting from the field, is more than capable of leading a team to a deep playoff run in his waning years.

As Ott aims to revitalize the Suns, the consensus among fans is clear: Durant’s exit feels inevitable, leaving Phoenix to chart a new path forward.
