A Look at Kentucky Players Drafted by the Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors have built their roster through various strategies, but one of the most effective methods has undeniably been the NBA draft. Over the years, many of the team’s standout players have joined the franchise either through direct selections in the draft or trades made on the same night. While the Warriors have secured numerous top stars this way, they have also welcomed some notable talents from diverse educational backgrounds.
In particular, the Warriors have drafted players from the University of Kentucky, a school known for its rich basketball tradition. Here’s an overview of every Kentucky player who has been selected by the Warriors in the NBA draft.
Gerry Calvert, a guard, was chosen in the 10th round of the 1957 NBA Draft as the 73rd overall pick after spending three seasons at Kentucky. Unfortunately, he did not make the team. More recently, Koby Brea was selected by the Warriors in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft, being the 41st overall pick after playing just one season at Kentucky. Like Calvert, Brea has yet to secure a spot on the roster.
These selections illustrate how the Warriors have scouted talent across a spectrum of collegiate programs. The franchise continues to seek out players who can elevate their game and contribute to their ongoing success.
