AJ Brown Seeks Fan Chant Similar to Cooper DeJean's Amid New England Transition
AJ Brown, the New England Patriots wide receiver, has expressed a desire for a unique chant from fans reminiscent of the one enjoyed by Cooper DeJean during his time with the Philadelphia Eagles. This revelation came as Brown sought to strengthen his connection with the fanbase before his transition to the Patriots, highlighting a playful yet revealing aspect of his competitive nature.
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Brown admitted to feeling envious of DeJean's fan interaction and urged Eagles supporters to create a similar chant for his significant plays. “I was just thinking, because football season is approaching and I want to get the fans involved, so I’m like, man, what can I do to get the fans involved?” he shared.
He further explained his motivation, saying, “When Coop [DeJean] makes a play he does his celebration, which is lit, and everybody be like, ‘Cooooop!’” This comparison underscored Brown's desire for a dynamic connection with the crowd, aiming to transform his touchdowns into collective celebrations.
While seeking such engagement is not inherently negative, it can pose challenges. Brown's ambitious personality thrives on emotional energy, and his most effective performances often come when he plays with intensity and flair. Initially, he suggested the chant “1K,” but fans encouraged him to explore an “Ay-Oh” concept inspired by Queen’s iconic Live Aid moment.
“I’m just trying to get the fans involved, so you got to let me know what you all think. We can come up with something,” he concluded. As Brown joins the Patriots, his charisma and desire for recognition must align with the team's goals to ensure his star power enhances rather than disrupts team dynamics.
