A.J. Brown's Trade to Patriots Delays Nashville Return
In a surprising turn of events, former Tennessee Titans wide receiver A.J. Brown has been traded to the New England Patriots, reuniting him with ex-coach Mike Vrabel. This transaction comes after prolonged speculation leading up to the June 1 deadline, with the Philadelphia Eagles facilitating the move. Brown, who was a second-round draft pick by the Titans in 2019, spent a productive four seasons with the Eagles after leaving Tennessee in 2022.
The trade has yielded significant returns for the Eagles, who received a first-round pick for 2028 and a fifth-round pick for 2027. Brown's initial move to Philadelphia had been a major event during the 2022 NFL Draft, where he was traded in exchange for a first-round and third-round pick.
With this latest trade, A.J. Brown's anticipated return to Nashville has been postponed indefinitely. The Titans have only faced him once since he was traded, in a matchup against the Eagles in December 2022. As the Titans prepare to play the Eagles in Nashville during Week 2 of the upcoming season, fans were looking forward to seeing Brown again, especially after the team's disappointing playoff exit against the Cincinnati Bengals in January 2022.
However, with Brown now a member of the Patriots, his chance to return to the current Nissan Stadium appears unlikely. The Titans are set to transition to a new stadium in 2027, meaning that Brown may have already played his last game at the existing venue. Adding to the complexity, if he remains with New England, he will not have the opportunity to face the Titans in their new stadium, as the schedule has the Titans playing in New England in 2027 and on the road against their AFC East rivals in 2028 and 2029. Unless Brown switches teams again, his next potential return to Nashville wouldn’t be until 2030, contingent on his contract status with the Patriots.
