OKLAHOMA CITY — The Alabama softball team continues its impressive run in the Women's College World Series, looking to secure the championship title. The Crimson Tide, ranked No. 1, defeated fourth-seeded Nebraska 5-1 on Saturday, May 30, maintaining their position in the winners bracket at Devon Park.

Marlie Giles delivered a standout performance, launching a three-run home run in the first inning and contributing an additional run with a sacrifice fly in the third. Jena Young capped off the scoring for Alabama with an RBI single in the fourth inning.

Next up, Alabama will face the winner of the match between UCLA and Texas Tech in the semifinals on Monday, June 1, at 6 p.m. CT, which will be broadcast on ESPN2. Earlier in the tournament, Alabama secured a hard-fought 6-3 victory against UCLA, highlighted by Alexis Pupillo's two-run homer and a three-run blast from Brooke Wells.

The Crimson Tide previously faced Texas Tech in 2017, where they achieved two consecutive wins, including a shutout victory that ended in six innings. Meanwhile, UCLA and Texas Tech will compete in an elimination game on Sunday, May 31, at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN2.

The Women's College World Series is set to run from May 28 through June 4/5, showcasing the top talent in college softball.
