Arthur Elias Prepares for Tougher Challenge in Second Friendly Against USA

The Brazilian Women’s National Team took to the field at Arena Castelão on Monday night, gearing up for their second encounter with the United States, scheduled for Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. This match in Fortaleza has already broken records for attendance at women's national team friendlies in Brazil, with 38,500 tickets sold. The previous record was set during a friendly match against Jamaica in Recife, which attracted 33,272 fans in June 2024.

The increased interest in women's football is one of the anticipated legacies of the upcoming World Cup in Brazil. Since their first match against the U.S. on Saturday (June 6) in São Paulo, head coach Arthur Elias and his team have highlighted the significance of fan support and the role of these friendlies in preparing for the World Cup.

With a record of two victories in five encounters against the U.S., Elias recognizes the challenge that lies ahead. “Their mentality is very strong, which is why they are world and Olympic champions. They have quality and many options. Tomorrow will be even more difficult than the first match,” he remarked.

The coach also shared insights into their tactical approach, noting that the team adjusts their game plan based on the opponent’s strengths and style, maintaining a man-marking strategy that has become their hallmark under his leadership.

In addition to the impressive attendance, this match presents an opportunity for Brazil to even the score against the Americans during the Elias era, which has seen two wins for Brazil and three for the U.S. in their five encounters.
