Rick Adelman, the celebrated former head coach and Hall of Fame basketball figure, has passed away at the age of 79, as confirmed on Monday evening. A prominent player in the NBA, Adelman enjoyed an impressive seven-year playing career, particularly shining during his time with the Portland Trail Blazers.

Adelman transitioned to coaching, amassing an extensive 23-season tenure as a head coach in the NBA. His coaching journey included leadership roles with the Trail Blazers, Warriors, Kings, Rockets, and Timberwolves. Notably, he spent two seasons at the helm of the Golden State Warriors in the 1990s, guiding iconic players such as Tim Hardaway and Chris Mullin.
