Bloomington South Boys Golf Team's Sectional Streak Ends as Brownstown Central Claims Title

BLOOMINGTON — The Bloomington South boys golf team's impressive sectional streak has come to a close, shifting their focus to a new challenge ahead. The Bloomington North Sectional, which commenced under rainy skies on Monday, June 8, at Cascades Golf Course, concluded with an unexpected victory for unranked Brownstown Central, marking the first postseason title in the school's history.

The Braves surpassed formidable opponents, including 19th-ranked South, Bloomington North, Bedford North Lawrence, and Edgewood, finishing with a remarkable total of 301—four scores of 77 or better. South secured a spot in the next round with a score of 308, followed closely by North at 309, while BNL (315) and Edgewood (320) fell short, lamenting missed opportunities.

"You’ve got to bring it," remarked South’s coach, Dustin Carver. "I kind of defined our round today as playing fearful. Not playing fearless from what I saw. Just some swings were very hesitant." He emphasized the importance of confidence in competition, expressing pride in senior Colton Watson's performance, who claimed the medalist title with a score of 1-under 70. However, the end of the Panthers' 11-year streak of team titles weighed heavily on them.
