Brazil Women's National Team Finalizes Preparations for U.S. Friendly
The Brazilian Women’s National Team is set to take on a formidable opponent. On the afternoon of Friday, November 5, the squad, under the direction of coach Arthur Elias, concluded their training ahead of a friendly match against the United States, which is scheduled for Saturday, November 6, at 6:30 p.m. at Neo Química Arena.
The final practice session focused on fine-tuning strategies and reinforcing tactical elements as the team gears up for this significant clash. The coaching staff utilized this time to review the game plan and ensure that the players are aligned in their approach to facing the Americans.
This upcoming match continues a competitive rivalry that has intensified since Elias took over as head coach. Brazil and the United States have clashed four times since September 2023. The U.S. emerged victorious in both the Gold Cup final and the Paris Olympic Games final, winning each match 1-0. However, Brazil made a strong statement during their friendlies in the U.S., losing the first encounter 2-0 but bouncing back to claim a historic 2-1 victory in the second match.
Reflecting on the previous encounters, Elias noted, “In the Gold Cup final, we had two balanced halves,” emphasizing that each match had its own unique dynamics. He acknowledged the resilience of both teams and the high quality of play, stating, “When two great national teams face each other, that can happen. The important thing is that the level of the games has been very high.”
This match holds significant importance not only for its competitive nature but also as part of Brazil's preparation for the upcoming 2027 World Cup, which will take place in Brazil. The coaching staff views these friendlies as crucial opportunities to assess the team's development against one of the top teams in women's football.
Following the match in São Paulo, the two teams will meet again on Tuesday, November 9, at 9:30 p.m. at Arena Castelão in Fortaleza. With limited time between the two matches, Elias is mindful of managing the squad effectively. He remarked, “We will have very little time between one game and the next... balance will be essential.”
