After making a name for himself as a high school baseball player in California, Brice Turang was committed to play college baseball for LSU. However, he had already gotten the attention of multiple MLB scouts, such as the Milwaukee Brewers.

They would end up drafting him 21st overall during the 2018 MLB Draft. He would spend a few years in the minors before he made his MLB debut on Opening Day of the 2023 season.

He did well in his first year in the big leagues, but it was 2024 when he started to become more of a household name. While holding a .254 batting average, he would go on to win his first Gold Glove Award.

For those first two seasons, Turang was known more for his glove than his bat. However, that would change at some point last season, and he has been raking this season.

Across 37 games, he is hitting .295/.414/.504 with six home runs and 26 runs batted in. he's on pace to shatter his career high of 18 home runs that he launched last season.

With how he has handled himself at the plate over the last few months, the crew over at MLB.com has placed him No. 7 in their latest power hitter rankings.

"Since the beginning of August, his 170 wRC+ trails only Judge, Rice and Langeliers among qualified batters. This season, Turang's barrel rate, hard-hit rate and average exit velocity are all well above the Major League median. His .424 on-base percentage is tied with the Baltimore Orioles' Taylor Ward for the best in the Majors."

The shift in Turang's game has really helped this club, especially with Christian Yelich missing some time with a hamstring injury. He's been a big reason why the Brewers are still in the thick of things in the NL Central.
