The Boston Bruins were a surprise team this year, reaching the playoffs a season after being sellers at the trade deadline.

After making the playoffs, Boston will look to build off that and be more aggressive this offseason in bringing in more talent. Ahead of free agency on July 1, The Athletic revealed one player each team should sign this offseason, and analyst Fluto Shinzawa urges Boston to sign Rasmus Andersson from the Vegas Golden Knights.

“The Bruins need help on defense. They really need help on the right side,” Shinzawa wrote in an article published on Saturday. “They tried to trade for Andersson when he was with the Calgary Flames. If they go the UFA route, they won’t have to give up any assets to attack a position of desperate need.”

Boston was linked to trading for Andersson earlier this year before he got dealt to Vegas. So, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Bruins go after him in free agency to try and bolster the blue line.

Andersson would add some offense to the backend as he recorded 17 goals and 30 assists for 47 points between the Calgary Flames and the Golden Knights this season.

The 29-year-old is also likely in line for a lucrative multi-year deal with several teams interested in him, but if Boston can land him, it would be a big get for its blue line.
