Bulldogs Claim IHSAA Golf Sectional Title with Strong Performance
Batesville's golf team added another accolade to their collection on Friday, securing the IHSAA sectional championship at the Greensburg Country Club. The Bulldogs finished with a total score of 311, narrowly defeating Columbus North, which posted a score of 316. Shelbyville took third place with a score of 334.
East Central and Jac-Cen-Del followed in fourth and fifth, with scores of 335 and 348, respectively. Other teams' scores included Columbus East at 349, Greensburg at 358, Hauser at 360, Waldron at 380, North Decatur at 384, Southwestern (Shelby) at 395, Milan at 424, South Ripley at 464, and South Decatur at 466.
The top three teams, along with the leading three individual players from non-qualifying teams, will advance to the regional competition on Thursday at Champions Pointe Golf Club in Henryville. Ian Hixson from Batesville earned the sectional medalist title with an impressive score of 73 (+3).
In addition to Hixson, Batesville's Jon Moody finished second overall with a score of 75, followed by Landon Raver at 78, Cooper Phebus at 85, and Caleb Laker with a score of 87. For the other teams, Hauser's Bill Miller (75), Waldron's Blake Bryant (79), and Greensburg's Logan Simpson (81) will also join the regional competition.
North Decatur's Aiden Luttel led his team with a score of 87, while Kobe Hoeing recorded a 96. The South Decatur team was led by Tayedin Traylor, who finished with a score of 103.
