Colton Bower to Rejoin Washington Huskies for 2027 Season
Coach Eddie Smith received exciting news on Sunday night as Colton Bower confirmed his return to the Washington Huskies for his senior year. A product of North Kitsap High School in Poulsbo, Bower had an impressive junior season, showcasing his skills as both a catcher and designated hitter while becoming a key offensive player for the team.
In the previous season, Bower posted a .311 batting average, a significant improvement from his sophomore year when he averaged just .214. His stats highlighted his development at the plate, featuring an OPS of 1.043, 46 hits, 12 home runs, and 36 RBIs. Although he played only 39 games due to injuries, he ranked second on the team in multiple offensive categories, trailing only sophomore outfielder Jackson Hotchkiss.
Bower made headlines with a standout performance against the Indiana Hoosiers, where he hit three home runs and earned Big Ten Player of the Week honors. He went 4-for-5 in that game, nearly achieving a fourth homer, and finished with 6 RBIs and 4 runs scored. One of his most memorable moments came during an 8-0 victory over the No. 1 ranked UCLA Bruins, where he recorded two home runs and a triple, contributing significantly to the Huskies' success against top-tier opponents.
With Jackson Hotchkiss now in the transfer portal, Bower is poised to take on a central role in Smith's lineup for the upcoming 2027 season, marking a pivotal year for the standout player.
