Comedian Ben Stiller Reflects on the Knicks' Long Struggles

Ben Stiller, the acclaimed comedian and filmmaker, recently shared his thoughts on the New York Knicks, expressing a sentiment that many fans can relate to. He described the team as having been regarded "as a joke," leading supporters to lower their expectations over time. “My whole life I’ve lived with this idea that, ‘Oh, the Knicks aren’t going to make it, the Knicks have never been good, the Knicks have been a joke for a long time back in the day,’” Stiller remarked in an interview with The Post.

Stiller's connection to the Knicks began during the 1973-74 season when he was introduced to the game by his father’s friends, who had eighth-row seats right behind the team's bench. Ironically, that season marked the start of a 53-year championship drought for the franchise. Since returning to New York from Los Angeles in 2010, Stiller has rekindled his passion for the team, often sitting courtside and witnessing the ups and downs that come with being a Knicks fan. “There was a lot of pain,” he noted, reflecting on the challenges the team has faced over the decades.

The Knicks have a rich history in the NBA, but their struggles have made them a source of frustration for die-hard fans like Stiller, who continue to hope for a brighter future.
