Community Unites for 12-Year-Old Xavier Taylor Critically Injured by Baseball

Xavier Taylor, a 12-year-old boy from New Jersey, remains in critical condition after being struck in the neck by a baseball during warm-ups on May 26 in Camden. His father, Greg Taylor, provided an update on May 31, revealing that Xavier is still on a ventilator and facing significant health challenges.

The incident occurred while Xavier was practicing with the Maple Shade Youth Baseball team. He collapsed immediately after being hit and was subsequently airlifted to Cooper University Hospital for urgent medical care. In an interview, Greg expressed hope for his son's recovery, stating, “We're pushing day by day to hope that the activity comes back.”

In a show of solidarity, the local community is rallying around Xavier and his family. The Maple Shade Youth Baseball Association has taken to social media to raise awareness about his condition, sharing uplifting messages from supporters. They initiated the “Bats Out for X” campaign, encouraging residents to place baseball bats on their porches on May 31 in honor of Xavier.

A vigil was also held at the baseball field where the incident took place, where Greg spoke about his son’s passion for the sport. “He will play this game again,” he assured attendees, emphasizing their determination to remain hopeful.

The community's support has been overwhelming, with many expressing their prayers and goodwill. “Our primary goal now is to ensure we are there for them in prayer and faith, helping them every way we can,” a league representative stated, urging continued prayers for Xavier’s recovery.
