Did the Brewers drop in latest MLB power rankings?

Despite dropping consecutive series to the Detroit Tigers and the Pittsburgh Pirates, it appears the most of the national baseball media that ranks teams somewhat understands that a rash of injuries are contributing to the Brewers' often inconsistent offense (at least prior to a 13-2 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks when the team scored eight runs in the sixth inning. April 28).

They won't be facing the 2025 Cy Young Award winners on back-to-back days anytime soon as they did last week, either

Though inability to hit home runs without Jackson Chourio, Christian Yelich and Andrew Vaughn in the lineup is significant, some writers logically also note reasons why the Brewers have been able to stay competitive without three key run producers in their lineup. It also doesn't hurt to have Jacob Misiorowski in your starting rotation.

Here's a roundup of where the Brewers are among the rest of the league currently:

9. The Athletic (8)

When you have Misiorowski pitching every five games as Levi Weaver writes, it's easy to still rank the Brewers among the top 10 teams.

"It might be easy to set Misiorowski’s greatness aside as early hype after last year’s All-Star situation, but he has been a legit superstar this year. In addition to leading the sport in strikeouts (51), his 14.1 K/9 from a starting pitcher is unheard of. Only once has an ERA-qualifier finished a season with more than 14 K/9, and I’m not sure that should count, since it was Shane Bieber in 2020. The highest in a full season was Gerrit Cole (13.8 K/9 in 2019 with the Astros)."

12. Bleacher Report (10)

Kerry Miller couldn't overlook the Brewers' power outage, but didn't penalize them much:

"The Brewers didn't hit a single home run last week and now have just one four-bagger to show for their last 11 games played. It somehow did not slow them down during the week of April 13, but it was quite a hindrance this time, as they lost back-to-back series. "

12. CBS Sports (4)

Matt Snyder noticed that there is another Brewers starter turning heads, but he did ding Milwaukee for a sputtering offense last week:

"Kyle Harrison has now made five starts for the Brewers and has a 2.28 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 30 strikeouts in 23 ⅔ innings."

9. MLB.com (7)

It's understandable that Will Leitch also focused on Misiorowski's mind-blowing fastball:

"Imagine striking a guy out on a 102.7 mph fastball and simply saying, “It felt the same as any other start. I think that’s just how it is. Normal.” That’s how Jacob Misiorowski felt about tossing the fastest strikeout pitch since pitch tracking began in 2008. No sweat."

10. Sports Illustrated (9)

Patrick McAvoy explains why the Brewers will remain dangerous:

"The Brewers are injured, but have stayed above water. They will be better as Christian Yelich, Andrew Vaughn, and Jackson Chourio return."

11. USA Today (5)

An inability to hit the ball over the wall couldn't be ignored by Gabe Lacques:

"In a three-way tie for last with 19 homers (prior to April 28)"
