District 3 softball: Ava Legath leads Wilson into 6A semifinals
Winning pitcher Ava Legath went 2 for 4 with an RBI as third-seeded Wilson defeated Central York 4-1 in the District 3 Class 6A softball quarterfinals on Friday.
The Bulldogs play the winner of second-seeded Chambersburg and seventh-seeded Mechanicsburg in the semifinals on Tuesday at the site of the higher seed.
Jadyn Etchberger and Leah Berkis each had a single and an RBI for Wilson (19-3).
Kaya Werley had a double and scored a run for the Bulldogs.
Legath struck out four, gave up nine hits and walked four in going the distance. Central York stranded 11 base runners.
The victory also qualifies Wilson for the PIAA tournament because District 3 sends four teams to the state playoffs.
