Draymond Green Envisions Stephen Curry's PGA Tour Aspirations Within Three Years
Draymond Green, forward for the Golden State Warriors, expressed his belief that teammate Stephen Curry possesses the talent to seriously pursue a professional golf career in as little as three years. While Curry's passion for golf is well-known, Green's endorsement highlights his confidence in Curry’s skills, which he acknowledges come with significant challenges.
During a recent episode of the "Why is Draymond Green Talking About Football" podcast, Green shared his thoughts on Curry's golf abilities, stating, “Bro, I went to golf with Steph one time. He’s incredible. He could real deal possibly be a professional golfer. He can definitely be a golf pro, no question. I think Steph could [go pro in three years].”
Green was careful to emphasize the difficulty of professional golf, cautioning against underestimating the sport. “I know how hard it is. So I don’t want to disrespect those guys,” he remarked. This distinction is crucial; Green is not suggesting that Curry could simply stroll onto the PGA Tour, but rather that his skills warrant serious consideration.
Curry already boasts an impressive golf track record for an athlete primarily known for basketball. He notably clinched victory at the 2023 American Century Championship with a dramatic eagle and maintains a handicap close to scratch. Green cited a memorable round at California Golf Club, where Curry showcased his exceptional skills. “He didn’t get a bogey till the ninth. He didn’t miss a single shot until the ninth or tenth hole,” Green recounted, underscoring Curry's consistent performance.
While the PGA Tour represents a significant challenge, Green’s remarks indicate that Curry is not just another athlete with a casual interest in golf; he is talented enough to make his ambitions in the sport a topic of serious discussion.
