Dylan Harper Celebrates Brother's Success Amid His Own Rookie Triumph
In a remarkable twist of fate, Dylan Harper is wrapping up an impressive rookie season with the San Antonio Spurs, while his older brother, Ron Harper Jr., offers unwavering support from the sidelines as a backup guard for the Boston Celtics. As the Celtics face off against the New York Knicks in the 2026 NBA Finals, Ron has been cheering for his brother, even though his own team exited the playoffs early.
During a press conference prior to Game 3 of the Finals, Dylan expressed admiration for Ron's journey in the league, highlighting his transition from the G League to securing a guaranteed contract. "He started off with the G (League), and now he's got a guaranteed contract, so for me, to watch him ... grow as a player was special," Dylan shared. He added, "Obviously, I think I've known the type of player he's been for a while – and now to see the whole world is (seeing that also), I wouldn't expect anything else."
Shifting focus to his own experience, the Spurs' rookie noted the support he has received from seasoned teammates. "I think finding my footing was easy with the type of team we have," he explained. "Whole lot of people, whole lot of vets that help me around." He emphasized the importance of learning from mistakes, stating, "They told me I'm going to make mistakes, but it's how you respond and how you bounce back from those mistakes. But for us to both have the year we had, I think it's a big plus for us."
The Harper brothers' simultaneous successes underscore a promising future for both players in the NBA, as they continue to make their mark in the league.
