Egyptian National Team to Offer Rare Training Session for Fans in Spokane

Soccer enthusiasts in the Inland Northwest have a unique opportunity to witness the Egyptian national team, featuring superstar Mohamed Salah, as they prepare for the 2026 World Cup. However, with a limited number of spots available, fans will need a bit of luck to secure their attendance.

The training session will take place at Luger Field on Gonzaga University’s campus at noon on June 10, just five days before Egypt kicks off its World Cup campaign on June 15 in Seattle. Due to FIFA regulations, access to this event will be restricted and tickets will be allocated via a random lottery system.

Interested fans can submit their requests for tickets at spokanecity.wufoo.com/forms/q1nzlwgd1h49hue, with a maximum of two tickets available per individual. Details regarding gate access, parking, and event guidelines will be shared with those who are selected.

Throughout the World Cup, Spokane will serve as the training base for the Egyptian national squad, which will be accommodated at Northern Quest Resort and Casino and will conduct practices at Gonzaga. "We are thrilled to welcome the Spokane community to Gonzaga University for this special opportunity to see the Egypt National Team prepare for the world stage," said Gonzaga University President Katia Passerini. "Being selected as a Team Base Camp Training Site for FIFA World Cup 2026 is an extraordinary honor for Gonzaga and Spokane, and this open training session will allow our community to share in the excitement of this global event."

This marks the fourth World Cup qualification for Egypt, a team that has yet to progress beyond the group stage. Mayor Lisa Brown expressed her enthusiasm, stating, "We are eagerly awaiting the Pharaohs' arrival and are excited for Spokane to experience this once-in-a-generation moment. This open training session is a wonderful way for our community to show its support, celebrate the global game, and welcome Egypt to the Lilac City."

The 2026 World Cup will feature 104 matches across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada, starting on June 11, with the championship match set for July 19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Seattle will host six matches, while Vancouver, British Columbia, will see seven matches during the tournament.
