Four National Teams to Set Up Camp in Texas for FIFA World Cup 2026

This summer, Texas will serve as a temporary training ground for four national soccer teams as they prepare for the FIFA World Cup. On June 1, FIFA unveiled its official list of base camps located throughout the United States, Mexico, and Canada, allowing teams to train, rest, and recover between matches.

Heimo Schirgi, CFO of the FIFA World Cup 2026, expressed his enthusiasm for the announcement, stating, “Team Base Camps are an integral part of the fabric of any FIFA World Cup. Finalizing the list of Team Base Camp Training Sites for the FIFA World Cup 2026 is especially exciting because of its unprecedented scale, which gives us the welcome and wonderful opportunity to involve even more communities and fans in this groundbreaking tournament.”

The teams that will be based in Texas include Saudi Arabia in Austin, Sweden in Frisco, the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Houston, and Czechia in Mansfield. Notably, all teams stationed in Texas, except for Czechia, are expected to participate in group-stage matches in either Dallas or Houston.

In Dallas, all matches will be held at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. The schedule includes key games such as Netherlands vs. Japan on June 14 and Argentina vs. Austria on June 22. Meanwhile, Houston's NRG Stadium will host matches including Germany vs. Curaçao on June 14 and Portugal vs. the Democratic Republic of the Congo on June 17.

As the excitement builds for the World Cup, Texas is poised to play a significant role in hosting teams and fans alike during this global sporting event.
