Four-Star Quarterback Colton Nussmeier Chooses Georgia Bulldogs

The Georgia Bulldogs have strengthened their recruiting class by securing a commitment from Colton Nussmeier, a highly sought-after four-star quarterback for the class of 2027. This addition is particularly significant for Georgia, which was facing limited options in the quarterback position for the upcoming cycle.

Nussmeier, who is ranked as the last top-30 quarterback to finalize his commitment this cycle, is a familiar name in the football community. He is the younger brother of Garrett Nussmeier, the former starting quarterback for the LSU Tigers, and hails from a family deeply rooted in football. His father, Doug Nussmeier, serves as the offensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints.

Standing at 6 feet 4 inches and weighing 200 pounds, Colton is currently participating in the Elite 11 finals, showcasing his skills among the nation's top quarterbacks. According to 247Sports, he is ranked as the No. 142 recruit overall, the No. 10 quarterback in the nation, and the No. 19 prospect in Texas. Nussmeier plays both football and basketball at Denton Ryan High School in Denton, Texas.

Should Nussmeier join Georgia, he will enter a competitive environment to potentially become the next starting quarterback, following current UGA starter Gunner Stockton, who is poised to enter the NFL draft in 2027. His main competitors for the role will include seasoned players Ryan Puglisi and Ryan Montgomery, along with redshirt freshman Hezekiah Millender and fellow four-star recruit Bryson Beaver.

Upon announcing his commitment, Nussmeier expressed his gratitude, stating, “All glory to God! Go Dawgs!” This commitment marks a notable step in Georgia's efforts to solidify their future quarterback lineup.
