Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta Launches Summer Season in Porto Cervo

The Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta has officially commenced the summer sailing season in the Mediterranean, centered in the picturesque Porto Cervo at the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS). Renowned for its impeccable organization and stunning locale, the regatta attracts elite yacht owners and crews eager to compete in this prestigious event.

This year's competition was particularly fierce, with the Swan 115 Moat and Southern Wind 96 Liberty Squared emerging as the champions in their respective classes after four days of exhilarating racing. Moat, helmed by YCCS member Juan Ball and tactician Cole Parada, dominated the Blue class. Ball expressed his gratitude, stating, “This is our third consecutive victory in the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta, but it is the result of constant work to improve the boat throughout the year. I would like to thank Giorgio Armani for their support of the regatta, and the YCCS — of which I am a member and which I love dearly - for the organization, and all the participants who return every year regardless of who wins.”

In the White class, the SW 96 Liberty Squared, with tactician Bouwe Bekking, secured a solid victory. The runner-up was Nostromo, followed closely by Sørvind, with the famed Giorgio Armani brand represented on board.

Carlo Pirzio Biroli, owner of Liberty Squared, reflected on the event, saying, “It’s been a fantastic week. This is my fifth time taking part in the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta and it’s always a wonderful week. We were lucky with the weather, managing to race on all four days. The Race Committee did an excellent job of keeping the fleet together along the race course. Sailing alongside the other boats, so close together, was truly thrilling and fun at the same time.”

As the regatta wraps up, the summer season is just beginning, promising more exciting events ahead in the world of superyacht racing.
