Haris Tabakovic Named Gladbach's Player of the Season

The 2025/26 season proved challenging for Borussia Mönchengladbach, characterized by inconsistency and underperformance. However, Haris Tabakovic's dependable scoring played a crucial role in keeping the team afloat amidst these difficulties.

Stepping up in the absence of injured star striker Tim Kleindienst, the on-loan TSG Hoffenheim forward became Gladbach’s most significant offensive asset, netting 13 goals across 32 Bundesliga matches. He capped off his season with a goal in a commanding 4-0 win over TSG Hoffenheim, although he sustained a metatarsal fracture during the match, raising concerns about his participation in the upcoming World Cup for Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Despite his strong performance during the loan period, a permanent transfer to Gladbach seems unlikely, as Tabakovic is expected to return to Hoffenheim post-World Cup, with potential interest from various clubs following his successful season.

Tabakovic's standout moments included two braces, one of which was during a decisive 4-0 away victory at St. Pauli in November. He opened the scoring after a mistake by goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj and later added a second goal, showcasing his striker's instinct before assisting his teammates for further goals.

In the voting for the Bulinews Player of the Season, Tabakovic secured six out of ten votes. Moritz Nicolas, who had an impressive season in goal, earned the second position with three votes, while captain Rocco Reitz, who is reportedly set to join RB Leipzig, received the remaining vote.
