In a dramatic turn of events at UFC Vegas 118 on Saturday night, one fighter was taken to a local hospital for precautionary evaluations after suffering an injury during the competition. Promotion officials confirmed to MMAmania.com that Junior Tafa was the sole fighter transported following his bout.

The Australian fighter, who holds a record of 7-6, was taken to the hospital to have his left leg assessed after experiencing significant pain during his technical knockout loss to Poland's Iwo Baraniewski. The injury occurred when Baraniewski landed a powerful kick, causing Tafa to fall to the ground in distress. The fight was promptly stopped as Baraniewski followed up with additional strikes (watch highlights).

This marked Tafa's third appearance in the octagon this year, with aspirations of competing six times throughout 2026. However, the potential severity of his leg injury may hinder those plans. Currently, Tafa's record in the UFC stands at 3-6, with his victories including fights against Kevin Christian, Sean Sharaf, and Parker Porter (watch highlights).

As of now, there has been no public update on the results of Tafa's medical scans. It is standard procedure for the UFC to transport fighters to medical facilities after intense matches, particularly when injuries are involved that require further examination. Stay tuned to MMAmania.com for any updates regarding Tafa’s health.
