Hunter Lawrence Dominates 450 Pala Pro Motocross Season Opener; Jett Lawrence and Haiden Deegan Shine with Top-Five Finishes

PALA, California: Hunter Lawrence showcased his prowess by seizing an early lead from Mikkel Haarup at Fox Raceway, ultimately claiming victory in the first moto of the 2026 Pro Motocross Championship. Haarup, making his debut on a 450 Triumph, initially grabbed the lead but Lawrence quickly overtook him on the opening lap and maintained his lead throughout the race.

As the race progressed, Haarup struggled to keep pace, allowing Jorge Prado to move into second place, while Chase Sexton settled into third. The competition between Hunter and Prado was intensified by their past rivalry, fueling Prado's efforts to close the gap. However, Lawrence managed to extend his lead in the latter half of the race, finishing over eight seconds ahead of Prado.

Justin Cooper maneuvered past Chase Sexton on Lap 4, securing a third-place finish despite a late push from Jett Lawrence, who ultimately claimed fourth. Jett's race began poorly as he was caught in traffic, forcing him to start the first lap outside the top 15. Haiden Deegan, competing in his 450 Motocross debut, faced even more challenges, falling outside the top 20 initially.

As the two riders battled for position, they were frequently within striking distance of each other. Deegan briefly overtook Jett, but Jett quickly reclaimed his position. In the end, Deegan finished fifth, marking a strong debut performance. Meanwhile, Chase Sexton faced misfortune with a crash on Lap 12, dropping him to seventh place.

In an incident on the first lap, Eli Tomac collided with Garrett Marchbanks, resulting in both riders being slow to recover. Tomac required assistance to leave the track but was reportedly awake and alert before being transported to a nearby hospital.
