Iowa Football Secures Commitment from 3-Star Defensive Back Jonathan Harris

IOWA CITY — Jonathan Harris, a defensive back from the Class of 2027, has officially pledged his commitment to the Iowa football team, a decision he shared on June 8. The 3-star recruit hails from Brother Rice High School in Illinois and is recognized for his impressive skills on the field.

Standing at 6 feet 2 inches and weighing 175 pounds, Harris has attracted attention from various programs, receiving offers from schools like Sacramento State, Missouri State, Western Illinois, Butler, and Chicago State. His recent visit to Iowa proved pivotal, resulting in an offer from the Hawkeyes.

In 2025, Harris contributed to Brother Rice's Class 7A state championship victory, showcasing his talent in competitive play. His junior season highlights have drawn considerable attention, emphasizing his potential as a key player.

Notably, Harris marks the second defensive back to join Iowa's 2027 recruiting class, following Jake Thies from Fenwick High School, who is also a 3-star athlete. This recent commitment comes just a day after defensive lineman Bariyus Allen announced his own decision to join the Hawkeyes. Allen, a fellow 3-star recruit, is from Belmont High School in Ohio.

The addition of Harris strengthens Iowa's recruiting efforts as they prepare for the upcoming seasons.
