Jacob Misiorowski Sets New Record as Brewers Dominate Rockies 7-1

DENVER (AP) — In a commanding performance on Saturday night, Jacob Misiorowski made headlines by delivering a record-breaking pitch at 103.7 mph, while Brice Turang contributed significantly with two solo homers, leading the Milwaukee Brewers to a 7-1 victory over the Colorado Rockies. The Brewers showcased their power with five solo home runs, with additional contributions coming from David Hamilton, William Contreras, and Jake Bauers.

Misiorowski (7-2) continued his exceptional form from May, where he posted an impressive 5-0 record and a minuscule 0.23 ERA across six starts. In this outing, he allowed only one unearned run on four hits and struck out eight batters over seven innings, bringing his season ERA down to 1.50. The right-handed pitcher demonstrated resilience by escaping a bases-loaded situation in the sixth inning, striking out both Jake McCarthy and Sterlin Thompson to end the threat.

The standout moment of the night came when Misiorowski unleashed a fastball measured at 103.7 mph to Kyle Karros in the third inning, marking the fastest pitch thrown by a major league starter since pitch tracking began in 2008. Remarkably, the 24-year-old has now recorded the twelve fastest pitches by a starting pitcher, surpassing his own previous record of 103.4 mph set against St. Louis on May 25.

Milwaukee faced a brief scare in the second inning when a ground ball from Troy Johnston struck Misiorowski’s calf; however, he was evaluated by a team trainer and continued after a couple of warmup pitches. A more concerning incident occurred in the sixth when a 98 mph cutter hit Tyler Freeman in the helmet. Freeman exited the game but managed to walk off under his own power.

Despite Milwaukee's solid pitching, a defensive miscue in the fifth allowed the Rockies to score their only run. Turang opened the scoring against Zach Agnos (0-1) with a homer in the first, followed by another in the eighth, while Hamilton's shot in the second marked one of his four hits, tying a career high. Contreras also contributed with a homer during a three-run seventh inning, and Bauers, who walked four times, added his 11th home run of the season shortly after Turang's second blast.

Looking ahead, Brewers rookie left-hander Shane Drohan (2-1, 2.87 ERA) is set to make his first appearance against the Rockies on Sunday, while Colorado will counter with lefty Kyle Freeland (1-6, 8.06).
