Jalin Hyatt Makes a Bold Impression on Colton Hood During Giants OTAs

Former Tennessee Volunteers players Jalin Hyatt and Colton Hood faced off during the recent organized team activities (OTAs) with the New York Giants. While Hyatt, now in his fourth season with the team, and rookie Hood, who was selected in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft, may not have crossed paths at Tennessee, their meeting on the field certainly left an impression.

During the practice, Hyatt showcased his skills by successfully beating Hood on a go route, making a contested catch from quarterback Jameis Winston. “Jalin Hyatt just beat Colton Hood on a go route down the right side. Great ball by Jameis. Great concentration on the contested catch,” noted Brandon London, a reporter covering the Giants.

Hyatt's performance was highlighted as one of his best of the spring, especially after dealing with some injuries during minicamps last month. Dan Duggan from The Athletic reported, “Jalin Hyatt had his best practice of the spring,” detailing how he made an impressive catch over Hood despite defensive complaints about a potential push-off.

The two players had limited interactions during their time at Tennessee, as Hood only joined the Vols in 2025. However, their encounter on the field should solidify their connection moving forward. At just 24 years old, Hyatt is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is eager to leverage the new coaching staff to revitalize his career with the Giants.

As the 2026 NFL season approaches, Monday’s practice gives Hyatt a positive foundation to build upon as he aims to make a significant impact.
