Jeremy Lin Joins ESPN as Analyst for Knicks-Spurs NBA Finals
Jeremy Lin is making a return to the New York Knicks, but this time as an ESPN analyst. The former guard will provide commentary during the NBA Finals series between the Knicks and the Spurs, as reported by USA Today.
Lin's first appearance on ESPN will take place on June 3 during SportsCenter, where he will join Scott Van Pelt in Washington, D.C. In addition to this segment, Lin is expected to appear on NBA Today and possibly other ESPN shows throughout the Finals.
This assignment holds significant emotional value for Lin, who experienced a meteoric rise during his time with the Knicks in the 2011-12 season, famously known as "Linsanity." During that memorable stretch, he averaged 25 points, 9.2 assists, and 3.6 rebounds per game, highlighted by a stunning 38-point game against Kobe Bryant and the Lakers. After a nine-year career in the NBA, Lin retired in August 2025 after playing several seasons overseas.
In a recent interview with USA Today, Lin shared his mixed emotions about the Knicks' journey to the Finals for the first time since 1999. “I always felt like Knicks fans deserve the best performances. They're so passionate,” he said, expressing a desire to have contributed more during his time with the team. “I genuinely wish that I could have a lot more success and done things in the playoffs for the Knicks, but that never came to fruition,” he added.
This will not be Lin's first experience in broadcasting; he previously participated in a three-day trial on NBA Today in March. "The reception that we got from the fans as well as what I felt internally was definitely beyond what I expected," he told the New York Post, emphasizing his joy in returning to the sport. As the Knicks aim for their first championship, the excitement in Manhattan is palpable, with local sanitation even playfully suggesting that the Spurs could be discarded.
