J.T. Poston Shines at Memorial Tournament, Claims Top Spot

J.T. Poston made a significant impression during the second round of the 2026 Memorial Tournament. After starting with a solid 2-under par on the opening day, he surged ahead with an impressive 7-under performance in the second round at Muirfield Village Golf Club, positioning himself as the leader with two rounds remaining.

Poston showcased his skills by carding six birdies on the first nine holes, alongside one bogey, and added two more birdies on holes 13 and 17, bringing his total to 9 under for the tournament. This remarkable round has set him apart as a competitor to watch.

Known affectionately as "The Postman," Poston also has a playful side, having once described himself as "open on Sundays" on his Twitter profile. His college teammates at Western Carolina referred to him as "Jimbo." Despite his success, he was not heavily recruited by major colleges, yet he left a mark with a record-breaking score of 63 at the North Carolina state championship, earning him recognition in Sports Illustrated's "Faces In The Crowd."

Poston, a native of Hickory, North Carolina, has three PGA Tour victories under his belt. If he manages to maintain his lead, this tournament would mark his fourth win since turning professional in 2015. His previous titles include the Wyndham Championship in 2019, the John Deere Classic in 2022, and the Shriners Children’s Open in 2024. Currently ranked 114th in the FedExCup standings, Poston aims to secure his place on the PGA Tour while boasting career earnings exceeding $23 million.
