Kenton Ridge High School Softball Team Claims Back-to-Back State Titles, Finishes Perfect Season
The Kenton Ridge Cougars have secured their second consecutive state championship in softball, triumphing over Licking Valley High School with a score of 7-6 during the Division IV finals at Firestone Stadium in Akron on Sunday.
In a dramatic comeback, the Lady Cougars found themselves down 6-0 before rallying to score seven unanswered runs and clinch the victory. The team's strong performance included four runs in the third inning, followed by another run in the fourth, narrowing the gap to 6-5.
The decisive moment came in the sixth inning when J.J. Davis delivered a two-run single, propelling the Cougars ahead 7-6. Pitcher Ivey Rastatter then took control, successfully securing the final three outs to complete the game.
This remarkable season concludes with Kenton Ridge finishing with an undefeated record of 32-0, marking their second consecutive year without a loss. The Lady Cougars have now extended their winning streak to 64 games.
