Knicks on the Brink of Championship as Okoro Prepares for Offseason Uncertainty
The NBA could witness a historic conclusion to its season this week, as the New York Knicks are poised to capture their first championship in 53 years. Currently leading the best-of-seven finals against the San Antonio Spurs with two victories, the Knicks are set to face off in Game 3 on Monday night.
Isaac Okoro, a former standout at Auburn, has already wrapped up his NBA season two months ago. As he looks ahead to the offseason, he anticipates another period filled with trade speculation. “I think I’ll just control what I can control,” Okoro stated, reflecting on the potential for change in his career. After being traded from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Chicago Bulls last offseason, he is focused on personal development and contributing to his team.
“It’s the NBA, it’s the business, and I can be traded again somewhere,” Okoro acknowledged. Despite the uncertainty, he expressed his enjoyment of his current environment and the culture being fostered within the Bulls organization. “I love being here, and I love the culture we’re trying to build, so I just have to try and control what I can control,” he added.
While Okoro's experience with trades has been limited—having only been moved once—he shared that during his time in Cleveland, he often felt the pressure of trade rumors looming every offseason.
