Lamine Yamal Reflects on Ballon d'Or Aspirations and Growth After Dembele's Win

Yamal shared his initial disappointment regarding the Ballon d'Or ceremony, admitting he felt he had a real shot at winning the prestigious award. "To be honest, that day I thought I was going to win it," he revealed. However, the 17-year-old has since changed his perspective, believing that losing to Ousmane Dembele ultimately served his growth. "I honestly believe it was good for me that Dembele won it, so that I could develop. Perhaps it wasn’t the right time for me," he remarked.

Reflecting on his international career, Yamal recounted his experience at the Euro 2024 tournament, where he played a pivotal role in helping Spain secure the championship. He expressed the thrill of competing on such a significant stage, noting, "I was just a kid; you get butterflies because it’s an international tournament."
