L'Jarius Sneed Returns to Kansas City Chiefs After Brief Tenure with Titans
Former Tennessee Titans cornerback L'Jarius Sneed is making his way back to the Kansas City Chiefs, where he previously found success. After a short stint in Tennessee, which lasted only 12 games over two seasons, Sneed's return is a significant boost for the Chiefs' secondary.
Sneed was traded to the Titans in March 2024 for a third-round pick in 2025 and a swap for a seventh-round pick in 2024. He signed a lucrative four-year contract worth $76 million, intended to enhance the Titans' defensive lineup. However, his performance faltered, and injuries plagued his time in Tennessee, causing him to miss 22 out of 34 games. This was a stark contrast to his previous three seasons in Kansas City, during which he missed only three games.
The Chiefs have re-signed Sneed to a one-year deal that could be worth up to $5 million, according to reports from the Katz Brothers. His return comes at a crucial time for Kansas City, as they lost both starting cornerbacks to the Los Angeles Rams this offseason. Additionally, Jaylen Watson, a key player on the opposite side, left via free agency, making Sneed's reunion feel almost inevitable.
Meanwhile, the Titans have been active in the offseason, acquiring former New Orleans Saints cornerback Alontae Taylor and former New York Giants cornerback Cor'Dale Flott to replace Sneed. They also added ex-Chiefs cornerback Joshua Williams to round out their defensive lineup for the upcoming season.
