LSU Infielder Trent Caraway Joins Transfer Portal After One Season
Trent Caraway, an infielder for the LSU baseball team, has decided to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to a report by Pete Nakos from On3. This move comes after Caraway's single season with the Tigers, during which he transitioned from Oregon State.
Caraway's choice to transfer doesn't come as a shock, as several players from LSU are anticipated to follow suit after a disappointing 2026 season. Over the course of the season, Caraway participated in 30 games, starting in 24 of them. He recorded a batting average of .243 and an OPS of .713, hitting two home runs and bringing in 16 runs.
Initially, Caraway was a key starter for the Tigers, but his role diminished as the season progressed, leading to inconsistent play during conference matchups. He was part of a group of offensive transfers brought in by head coach Jay Johnson in 2025, aimed at replenishing the team's lineup following significant losses.
Despite the challenges he faced, Caraway's experience with two prominent college baseball programs positions him well for future opportunities. The transfer portal, which opened on Monday, will remain accessible for the entire month of June.
