Meadville Boys Volleyball Semifinal Relocated to State College
The Meadville boys volleyball team is set to play its PIAA Class 2A semifinal at State College, where they aim to advance to the championship match. Coach Nick Bancroft confirmed to the Erie Times-News that the Bulldogs will face off against the Brandywine Heights Bullets at State College High School’s gymnasium on June 9, with the match beginning at 4 p.m.
Originally, the semifinal was planned to take place at Bald Eagle Area in Wingate, a suburb located to the northeast of State College. However, Bancroft was informed on June 8 that the venue would be changed due to the gym's lack of air conditioning, which had previously caused discomfort during a recent match.
In a quarterfinal held on June 6, players from Brandywine Heights and South Fayette both expressed concerns about high humidity levels at the same location, prompting the decision to switch venues.
With both Meadville (19-0) and Brandywine Heights (20-2) looking to secure a spot in the finals, they hope to return to State College, specifically to Penn State University’s Rec Hall, for the PIAA 2A championship on June 13 at 11 a.m.
This shift in venue adds an extra layer of excitement as both teams prepare for this crucial match.
