Miami Hurricanes Surge in Recruiting with Key Flips from Top Talent
Recruiting season is heating up for Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes as they secure impressive commitments. Recently, Jaiden Bryant, a five-star EDGE from Irmo, South Carolina, announced that he has switched his commitment from LSU to Miami, a significant gain for the program. Bryant, ranked as the No. 29 overall prospect and the fourth-best EDGE for the 2027 class by the Rivals Industry Ranking, also holds the title of the top recruit in South Carolina.
Reflecting on his official visit to Miami, Bryant shared, “It went great. Some highlights from this weekend were spending time with some of the guys and some of the players already on the team. I just had an all-around great time. I appreciated the way the coaches treated me and my family. I felt love here. I felt wanted.” This commitment adds to an already exciting recruiting cycle for the Hurricanes.
Interestingly, Bryant is not the highest-ranked player to switch allegiances to Miami this cycle. That honor goes to Donte Wright, a five-star cornerback from Long Beach, California, who moved his commitment from Georgia to Miami on May 9. Wright, ranked as the No. 8 prospect nationwide, is eager to make his mark in Miami. His father remarked, “They see him playing a lot right away. They’re all about competition there, and the best players will play, no matter the grade.”
Miami's success didn’t end with Wright, as they also welcomed four-star cornerback Ai’King Hall from Dothan, Alabama, who flipped from Oregon shortly after. Hall, ranked in the top 100 of the Rivals300, cited proximity as a reason for his decision, humorously stating, “Miami is much closer… my mom is not getting on a plane.” He expressed confidence in Cristobal’s vision for the team, believing a national championship is on the horizon.
As of June 3, Miami stands strong at No. 3 in the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings, trailing only Texas A&M and Oklahoma. While the signing period is still ahead, the groundwork laid by Cristobal and his staff is promising for a potential landmark recruiting class. The last time Miami had a class this competitive was in 2008, which included top talents like Arthur Brown and Marcus Forston.
Cristobal remains focused on building a successful program, emphasizing, “We provide very tangible proof of the direction of our program and what we’re doing.” His dedication to the Hurricanes reflects a commitment to excellence both on and off the field.
