Michigan Football's 2027 Commitment Maxwell Miles Commits to Minnesota

The Michigan Wolverines have been making significant strides in recruiting, recently climbing to sixth place in the 247Sports Composite team rankings within the Big Ten. However, this upward momentum has faced a setback as the Wolverines lost one of their 2027 commitments.

Maxwell Miles, a three-star safety from Las Vegas' Centennial High School, has decided to switch his commitment from Michigan to the University of Minnesota. This change comes about a month after fellow safety Darrell Mattison opted to join Ole Miss, marking the first two losses for Michigan’s incoming class.

Though Miles was previously ranked near the bottom of his class, he caught the attention of Minnesota's coaching staff and ultimately chose to play for PJ Fleck, announcing his decision on social media.

As of now, Michigan's 2027 recruiting class includes notable players such as four-star wide receiver Quentin Burrell and four-star quarterback Kamden Lopati. The Wolverines currently have 15 commitments, placing them ahead of Ohio State but behind USC and UCLA in the rankings.

In its previous instance of losing a safety, Michigan successfully replaced Mattison with four-star Tavares Harrington. Fans will be watching closely to see if history will repeat itself with another strong addition to the class.
