Making a conglomerate wait around for an hour-plus, Victor Wembanyama had one of his first WWE heel moments with the NBA national media. The MVP finalist forced circles of folks to wait around for nothing. After the Oklahoma City Thunder collected a 127-114 Game 5 win over the San Antonio Spurs, he skipped out on his postgame interview duties.

Uh oh. That's not good. In a super-duper important point of the 2026 Western Conference Finals, the Spurs showed their youth and inexperience. On paper, they should've blown the short-handed Thunder out. Both Jalen Williams and Ajay Mitchell were sidelined once again.

Instead, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and friends are now one win away from punching their ticket to the 2026 NBA Finals. Wembanyama struggled once again. Make it three of the last four games against OKC that's happened. He had a pedestrian 20 points on 4-of-15 shooting and six rebounds.

With a possible punishment in line, the NBA elected to give Wembanyama another slap on the wrist for his fine-worthy offense. The league handed him a warning for skipping out on his postgame interview requirements, per ESPN's Shams Charania.

That's the second time in these NBA playoffs that the decision-makers have gone easy on Wembanyama. He avoided suspension after viciously elbowing Naz Reid in the throat during the Minnesota Timberwolves' Game 4 win over the Spurs in their Round 2 series. Precedent dictates the 22-year-old should've been suspended. Alas, the league went against it.

We'll see if Wembanyama can have an encore of his Game 1 and 4 heroics in San Antonio's wins over the Thunder. They're facing elimination for the first time in these NBA playoffs in Game 6. Not talking to the media after Game 5 is perhaps the most tangible example of the Thunder's all-time defense finally getting to him.
