Nelly Korda's Surprising Advice Inspires Jeeno Thitikul

Nelly Korda has shared an intriguing perspective with World No. 2 Jeeno Thitikul during the ongoing U.S. Women’s Open at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles. Both golfers have been in a friendly competition for the top spot in women’s golf, with Korda currently leading the Rolex Rankings.

While many golfers are known for their intense practice routines, Thitikul observed that Korda adopts a different approach. “I don’t really see her practice that much during the tournament,” Thitikul noted. “I just always see her on the driving range a little bit before her tee time. Then maybe she just putts a couple of balls and then goes home.” Initially, this laid-back style seemed counterproductive to Thitikul, but she began to understand the value of Korda’s relaxed mindset.

Thitikul remarked that Korda has shifted her mindset this year, focusing more on simply enjoying the game rather than overworking herself. “If you put too much work and you don’t let your body rest and relax, especially tournament week, I think it’s going to be a disadvantage more than an advantage,” Thitikul explained. This revelation about Korda’s balance between work and rest has inspired Thitikul to reevaluate her own approach during tournaments.

Ultimately, Thitikul admires Korda not only for her impressive swing but also for her remarkable mental game. “She’s a fast player, which is my favorite,” Thitikul said with a smile. “It’s just great to see someone that’s good-good, and then we’re just hanging around and trying to do the same things to get better together.”
