Oregon State Golf Coach Jon Reehoorn Transitions to Full-Time Caddie for Joel Dahmen

Jon Reehoorn, who has been at the helm of the Oregon State men's golf program for many years, is set to resign from his coaching position to become a full-time caddie for popular PGA Tour golfer Joel Dahmen. The news was first reported by Lance Ringler of Golfweek on social media, who remarked, “He was truly one of the best out there and will be missed.”

At 38, Dahmen had expressed hesitations about hiring a permanent caddie after his long-time collaboration with childhood friend Geno Bonnalie ended last July. During this transitional period, he often relied on various friends, including his swing coach Rob Rashell and Reehoorn, as well as veteran caddie Ben Hulka, to assist him on the course. “I kind of like the caddie by committee. Chris Kirk did it for a long time. Basically, I know what I’m doing so I can use anyone who is not going to cost me strokes and is fun to hang out with. Hopefully I’ll have someone steady soon,” Dahmen explained in March.

Ultimately, Dahmen found that steadiness in Reehoorn, who expressed his gratitude for his time at Oregon State. “I have loved all 16 years of my time at Oregon State,” Reehoorn stated. “Not everything lasts forever, and as my kids get older, my wife and I have decided now is the time for our family to have the opportunity to grow up with their grandparents and other family members in the Seattle area. Working with Joel allows this to happen.”

During his tenure, Reehoorn guided the Oregon State men's golf team to impressive achievements, including seven NCAA Championship appearances, ten team titles, and numerous individual accolades. This transition marks a new chapter for both Reehoorn and Dahmen as they embark on their journey together in professional golf.
