Reds sign Chris Paddack, veteran right-handed starting pitcher

The Cincinnati Reds signed veteran right-handed starting pitcher Chris Paddack to a one-year MLB deal through the 2026 season, the team announced May 13.

The team also announced right-handed pitcher Rhett Lowder was placed on the 15-day injured list (IL) with right shoulder pain. The team designated for assignment (DFA) catcher PJ Higgins.

The 30-year-old Paddack was released by the Miami Marlins after being DFA'd.

Paddack signed a one-year, $4 million deal with Miami during the offseason but made just seven appearances, including six starts, and posted a 7.63 ERA and 1.663 WHIP in 30 ⅔ innings.

The Detroit Tigers acquired Paddack from the Minnesota Twins at the 2025 trade deadline.

Paddack has a 32-41 record and 4.79 ERA in 125 career MLB appearances for the Twins, San Diego Padres, Tigers and Marlins.

Chris Paddack made seven appearances for the Miami Marlins before he was designated for assignment.
