The WAGNH Community Ratings have concluded their 14th season, and the top-rated player has been officially designated as the WAGNH Player of the Year. While this assessment method has its limitations, tracking immediate post-match reactions provides valuable insights into the players' performances over the season. Historically, the highest-rated player often coincides with the winner of the public vote for Chelsea Player of the Year, but this year marks a notable exception with Captain Reece James taking the title.

James qualified for this honor with 39 appearances out of a possible 59, though he started only around half of those matches due to injury issues that sidelined him for much of the last two months. This scenario mirrors the 2019-20 season when Christian Pulisic was named WAGNH Player of the Year despite missing significant time; that year, Mateo Kovačić won the official vote.

James's achievement can be attributed to his sustained health throughout the season, a rarity for him in recent years, as well as his reliability on the pitch. Notably, he did not top the charts in Man of the Match awards or overall rating averages, with João Pedro leading in both categories. However, he exhibited remarkable consistency, finishing below the team average in only seven of his games and never receiving a rating below 5. In a season characterized by significant inconsistency, his dependable performances stood out.

This season has been challenging for Chelsea, ranking as the second-lowest in terms of player ratings in the outlet's history, with James's average score of 6.6 being the lowest for a winner. Nonetheless, this reflects more on the performance of the entire squad rather than a lack of quality from James himself. Congratulations to Reece James on this well-deserved accolade, with hopes for a brighter future ahead.
