Rising EDGE Prospect Roy Price Commits to Minnesota after Official Visit
Minnesota has secured the commitment of a promising defensive talent from Newark, Ohio. Roy Price, an EDGE player, made an official visit to the university over the weekend and has now joined the Golden Gophers' recruiting class.
Price expressed enthusiasm for his new role at Minnesota, stating, "They are recruiting me for the rush end position. That position needs to be able to drop, cover, set the edge and get after the QB. They believe I can do all those things at a high level. I love the challenge of having to be great at multiple things." He feels confident that his natural abilities will make him an excellent fit for the position.
The standout from the Columbus UA MVP camp explained why Minnesota stood out to him. He noted a strong connection with head coach P.J. Fleck, saying, "Coach Fleck is very similar to my high school Coach Bill Franks. How you do anything is how you do everything. I loved his intensity and attention to detail." Price also highlighted the importance of a shared belief system, adding, "I put God first always, so having that as part of the belief system was huge for me."
Price is eager to learn from Minnesota's coaching staff, particularly Coach Stanard. "I spent a lot of time with Coach Stanard," he shared. "I got to know about him, his family and his experience as a coach. He has a lot of time in coaching which I’ll be able to learn from."
At the Columbus UA camp, Price distinguished himself by earning the MVP title for his position group. Weighing in at 205 pounds, he showcased his quickness and agility, and is seen as a versatile player who could thrive as a stand-up outside linebacker or EDGE rusher.
