The Colorado Rockies faced a tough challenge against the Milwaukee Brewers, who have been on a hot streak, particularly with their ace Jacob Misiorowski on the mound. Misiorowski, leading the league in strikeouts, posed a significant threat to the Rockies, whose batting lineup has struggled throughout the season. Concerns were also raised about Zach Agnos, who was making a return to the majors after a rough patch in the bullpen.

Agnos did not pitch deep into the game, but he managed to limit the early damage. Misiorowski showcased his expected prowess, striking out eight Rockies batters. Although Colorado put him in a few difficult situations, they failed to make the most of his few mistakes. The Rockies' bullpen faltered in the later innings, leading to a series of solo home runs that widened the scoring gap.

Agnos, making his first start since May 21, showed improvement compared to his recent bullpen outings. He allowed a solo homer to Brice Turang and another to David Hamilton, finishing his outing after three innings with three hits, three walks, and one strikeout. Relief pitcher Blas Castaño provided a bright spot for the Rockies, delivering 2.2 scoreless innings and successfully challenging a call that helped him escape a jam in the fourth inning.

Colorado’s offense finally made an impact in the fifth inning, with Edouard Julien reaching base on an error and scoring on a double from Kyle Karros, narrowing the score to 2-1. However, the Rockies missed a critical opportunity in the sixth inning when they loaded the bases with just one out but failed to convert, much to the disappointment of manager Warren Schaeffer.

Misiorowski continued to dominate, throwing over half of his 98 pitches at speeds exceeding 100 MPH. His stellar performance solidified his reputation, as he pitched seven innings, allowing only four hits and one unearned run. The Rockies now face the challenge of regrouping as they look to bounce back in their next matchup against a formidable opponent.
