Rutschman Shines with Five RBIs in Orioles' Dominant Win over Blue Jays
TORONTO (AP) — Adley Rutschman delivered an outstanding performance on Friday night, contributing significantly to the Baltimore Orioles' commanding 13-3 win against the Toronto Blue Jays. Rutschman showcased his skills with a solo home run, a pair of two-run doubles, and a total of four hits, driving in five runs throughout the game.
Following Rutschman's impressive display in the sixth inning, Coby Mayo added to the Orioles' scoring spree with a two-run homer off pitcher Trey Yesavage (2-3). This victory marked Baltimore's fifth win in their last six games, while Toronto struggled, suffering their fifth defeat in a similar stretch.
On the mound, Brandon Young (4-1) achieved his first win since May 6, pitching 6 1/3 innings. He allowed three runs on seven hits, issued no walks, and struck out four batters. The only significant blemish on his record was a two-run homer given up to catcher Brandon Valenzuela during the fifth inning.
Rutschman, who also drew a walk, crossed the plate four times in this contest. Meanwhile, Toronto's Daulton Varsho exited the game in the fourth inning due to discomfort in his left wrist.
Looking ahead, the Blue Jays plan to rely on Spencer Miles (2-1) for a significant portion of the pitching duties in Saturday's game, while the Orioles are set to have RHP Kyle Bradish (3-6) take the mound.
