Sebastian Hoeneß disappointed, but proud of VfB Stuttgart’s effort in loss to Bayern Munich

VfB Stuttgart Sebastian Hoeneß had his team well-prepared to face the Bavarian Juggernaut, Bayern Munich, in the DFB-Pokal finale.

While the final scored read 3-0 in favor of FC Bayern, Hoeneß was very happy with his team’s fight and effort.

“The disappointment is still there, and of course the pride, too. I know that we played a very good game for 55, 60 minutes. The lads showed exactly what was needed to push Bayern to the brink – and unfortunately, they remained just on the brink. We were close. Even though we lost the game today – the way we performed was important to me. That will make it easier for me to go into the summer break with a positive outlook,” Hoeneß said (as captured by FCBayern.com).

Hoeneß earned his stripes as a coach with Bayern Munich II and is well-versed in just how hard it is to take down the Bavarians. Despite the loss, though, it would be hard to come away unimpressed with the job that Hoeneß did in this game — and in this season — with VfB Stuttgart.

Clearly, the manager has a very bright future a head of him.
