Sioux Falls Jefferson's Macy Bryant Honored as South Dakota Gatorade Softball Player of the Year

SIOUX FALLS — Macy Bryant, a senior at Sioux Falls Jefferson, has been recognized as the South Dakota Gatorade Softball Player of the Year, a prestigious accolade awarded on Friday. The talented 5-foot-5 shortstop has played a pivotal role in the Cavaliers' impressive 21-0 record leading into the Class AA state tournament semifinals scheduled for later today.

Throughout the regular season, Bryant showcased her extraordinary skills, achieving a remarkable .831 batting average and an on-base-plus-slugging percentage of 2.439 over 20 games. Her standout performance included 18 doubles, eight triples, and seven home runs, contributing to a total of 37 runs batted in and 52 runs scored. Along with her offensive prowess, she also excelled defensively with a fielding percentage of .919 and successfully stole 14 bases without being caught.

"Macy is the heartbeat of our team," remarked Jefferson head coach Ed Whiting in a press release. He praised her exceptional work ethic and leadership, stating, "She leads by example in the classroom, in the weight room and on the practice field as one of the hardest-working athletes among her peers." He emphasized her positive influence on younger players and her ability to inspire respect and admiration from teammates.

In addition to her athletic accomplishments, Bryant has earned an impressive 3.93 grade-point average in her studies. She has committed to furthering both her academic and softball pursuits at South Dakota State University.
